Texas has no single office for every custody exit. For a state-prison incarceration history or release record, contact the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Public Information Request office at its official request page, email PIA@tdcj.texas.gov, or mail TDCJ Public Information Request, PO Box 4017, Huntsville, TX 77342. Hand delivery is accepted at 2 Financial Plaza, Suite 600, Huntsville, TX 77340. TDCJ's online locator is limited to people currently incarcerated, so a former prisoner's no-result must be followed by an information or records request.
- For a county-jail exit, use the County Directory to reach the sheriff and county release-record route.
- For the fields and request steps at both levels, start with the Texas released-inmates home page.
- For active parole, contact the proper TDCJ Parole Division district office; for probation, contact the sentencing court and local CSCD.
- For an individual prison or jail, select it in the Facility Directory.
- For a TDCJ case still in custody, use the TDCJ offender search instructions.
- For federal or immigration custody, use the official BOP Inmate Locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator and the agency's records channel.
